Today Tuesday 11th of March 2014, we played a Combined Pairs Stableford Competition at Oliva Nova, and there were 50 players in total. We were delighted to have four guests to Pego Golf Society today, namely Simon Fox, Alan Turpin, Brian Barden, and Terry Leonard. This morning, it was the perfect morning for golf, with no wind and bright sunny sky. The course was in fine condition, despite a light dusting of sand over the greens.
There were four prizes for our combined pairs, and the results were as close as close can be.
1st Place:- Martin Gates and Jan Baker with 67 Points
2nd Place:- Danny Herron and Gordon Weston with 67 Points
3rd Place :- Felix Baybut and Peter Chapman with 67 Points
4th Place :- Donna Green and Peter Cornes with 65 Points
So, only two points separating the first four places with a tie for the first three places only separated by best back nine score
There was only one “two” today, and that was by Gordon Weston and like last week, he had not put his name down for the same competition, he could not win, so it was a second rollover until next week.
The “Balls in the Water” prize was won today and the winning total was 136 golf balls
Nearest the hole at Hole 3 with 3.68 meters was Martin Gates, and at hole 16 the closest was Mike Holloway with 4.50 meters.
In the Pego Golf Society Matchplay first round, Larry Ryder beat Michael Holloway by 5 & 4, and Brendan Young beat Charlie Miller by 4 & 3
Our Costablanca League captain Steve Patton celebrated his birthday today, and presented a bottle of Grants whisky for the lucky card draw winner, and that winner was Ron Webb.
Congratulations Steve and enjoy the whisky Ron Webb.
Next week we have a new competition at Oliva Nova Golf Club, and that is a “Strokesford” Competition” and if any guest would like to play with the Pego Golf Society, and who wouldn’t, please enter through our website www.pegogolfsociety.com or send an e-mail to Donna Green at firstname.lastname@example.org“>email@example.com
