olivagolfdec2013Tuesday 3rd of December, we played a Singles Stableford Competition at Oliva Nova, and today we had a total of 42 players. In that 42 players, we had three guests, namely John Guest, Brian and Feli Baybut.(Good Player). We were greeted today with cloudy rainy skies, so really not great conditions for the game of golf. The rain managed to stay off until midway during the back nine, when it became just too heavy, causing half of the field to abandon simply.

For the brave souls who did complete the round, the results were as follows:

Division 1 Winners

1st Place:- John Evans 35 Points off 17 handicap

2nd Place:- Russ Peters 34 Points off 10.1 handicap

3rd Place :- Charlie Millar 32 Points off 16.4 Handicap

Division 2 Winners

1st Place:- John Nic 36 Points off 22.2 Handicap (Happy Birthday John)

2nd Place :- Paul Trigwell 33 Points off 20.4 Handicap

3rd Place :- Alan Simpson 31 Points off 23.6 handicap

Congratulations to all those above who won today, especially under such dreadful golfing conditions.

A word regarding the condition of Oliva Nova Golf Course.  All year long I have been praising the fairways and greens of the golf course, but as we reach December, the golf course is not nearly in such good condition as it has been earlier this year. Some of the fairways are showing bare patches, and the greens are bumpy. I am sure that they will return to their natural excellent condition in the near future.

There were three 2's today, one by Danny Herron (72 cms), one by Charlie Millar and finally one by Colin Foster

The "Balls in the Water" prize was not won today, so will carry over until next week

Nearest the hole at Hole 3 with 0.72 meters was Danny Herron, and at hole 16 the closest was Paul Trigwell  with 5.0 meters.

John Nicol his birthday today, and the winner of the "birthday bottle" was Chris Brookes

Next week we have a three club competition, which should be fun, followed by our annual AGM
