What a great way to start off the new year with music, a quiz, good food and great company. That is how Jalon Valley Help started their fundraising programme for 2023.
The event took place at Restaurante Pepe, Alcalalî last Thursday 19th January, when 55 people sat down to a two course meal before being entertained by Roger Brown, singing a great repertoire of songs, ranging from Elvis Presley to Neil Diamond to Abba. And as each song was performed there were questions related to that song to be answered. The audience also joined in with the singing so a great time was had by all.
The winning team ‘Outlanders’ consisted of Lynn and Tony Bishop, David Brock and Sheila Skinner. Runners up, after a tie break question to guess how much the film Mamma Mia grossed in its first year, were declared as the ‘Benarrosa No Brainers’, comprising John and Linda O’Driscoll, Mike Stanley and Debbie Batty.
Together with the inevitable JVH raffle the evening raised a total of 343€.
At the end of the evening Pam Brooks, President of Jalon Vally Help, thanked Roger and his wife Rosemary for a very entertaining evening, Karena and her team, who as usual did us proud with the food, and of course the JVH fundraising team. Pam pointed out that this is a very small team and they would really appreciate some help. In fact volunteers are desperately needed in all areas of the charity, so if you can spare just a few hours a week, or even now and again, Pam would love to hear from you on 634 310 415.
Further events are planned at Pepe’s including an Afternoon Tea with Beetle Drive on Monday 20th February and the ever popular Games Night on Thursday 5th April. Our Afternoon Teas have always been popular and we hope that you will enjoy the game of Beetle too. We need teams of four for the game, so talk to your friends to make up a team or book separately and we will make up a team for you.
