LA SELLA's reputation as one of the most difficult courses in the Valencia region is still in tact! Only one of 27 Levante members and guests broke par on the original 18-hole layout and it was no surprise that the players taking the top three places in Division 1 were also La Sella members.Leading the way with 34 points was Peter Jenkins, playing off 13, with Malcolm Nash (11) and Anne Edwards (12) three points adrift on 31.

It was a different story in Division 2 where Barry Webb was the star, returning an outstanding score of 41 points.

Barry, who took up golf only six months ago, has quickly settled in with Levante and, since his first game in June last year, has reduced his handicap to 28.4.

His winning score was seven points clear of second-placed Harris McCrea and third-placed Lynn Harrison had 32 points.

Nearest the pin prizes went to Mike Harding (nearest to the 12th hole in two shots) and to Mike Cuerden on the short 15th.

This was the first of nine visits Levante are making to La Sella this year having decided to reduce travelling costs for members and it's back to La Sella for the next meeting, on February 1, when guests are welcome.
