Semana Santa Saguntina

Semana Santa Saguntina, is regarded as a National Tourist event. Organised by la Mayoralía de la Cofradía de la Purísima Sangre de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo (the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ). This is an ancient holy tradition that spans centuries.
Good Friday is the most important day in Sagunto during Semana Santa, as the Stations of the Cross – a procession that carries Jesus to Calvary, the site he was crucified – is led around the city, and the Passion of Christ is played out. Also during Semana Santa, there’s religious music, the Encuentro and Silencio processions, as well as the Sermón del Descendimiento (Sermon of Descent).
