Holy Week in Alzira

Holy Week in Alzira is celebrated from the 2 to 9 April, and is considered a Festival of National Tourist Interest. It’s rooted in the Middle Ages, but it was in the 18th century when it grew into something more significant thanks to the formation of the brotherhoods. Today, 25 religious floats are carried out onto the streets in celebration of Easter – creations by highly skilled sculptors and painters – and locals flock to the streets to see the Stations of the Cross and the great Holy Great Burial Procession.
