New Members | | “Friendly” Levante looking for membership boost
LEVANTE is increasing its number of meetings and looking to boost membership. The society is now meeting on every Friday in the month and, 19 years after its formation, is ‘opening its doors’ to all handicap players.
The current membership stands at 55 and captain Rob Westlands says: “We are a friendly society which caters for all handicaps and it is particularly among the mid to higher handicap players where we think we can help to fill a gap. “We are hoping that golfers new to the area and members of other societies who, perhaps, meet only twice a month, will consider...Read More >> |

INDIVIDUAL STABLEFORD 17TH APRIL 2012
54 members (our highest turnout yet) assembled at Oliva Nova for our usual Tuesday competition. Those who wore shorts definitely wished they hadn’t as the wind had a definite chill about it.
Oliva Nova course was in superb condition apart from the 12th and 14th holes, which still has a way to go to equal the rest of the course.
Our captain and members gave a very warm welcome back to Stuart Butler, who returned after a long absence.
Due to the high numbers of players prizes have now increased to 5 per division.

 | Javea Green Aussie Pairs
On Saturday Javea Green bowlers were treated to a “new” competition in the form of a “drawn” Aussie Pairs. Sixty four players took up the challenge and by the response at the end of the day thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The players played six ends per game and had four matches, which were randomly drawn, against the other competing teams. Each game lasted an hour so the players were on and off the green in rapid succession as there were two groups of sixteen teams in operation, see the group photo with this article. The eventual winners were Shirley Payne...Read More >> |

| | | Pego Golf Society – Oliva Nova – March 27th
Spring is officially here and was clearly evident in all its glorious sunshine. The Oliva Nova course was a little more difficult than usual with most tees being well back and quite a lot of patchy lies around the greens, but the latter will sort itself out shortly when the summer grass comes through.
Once again we had a full field of 13 four balls, which included three guests with Shaun O'Gorman's 33 stableford points beating Jim and Jayne Leath to take the visitor's prize
Knockout Competition result
Ken Millar beat Barry Levett by six & four
Terry Leary...Read More >> |

 | Levante Golf Society
Levante winners at Bonalba… back row ( l to r) Jim Thomas, Roger Miller, Mike Harding, Keith Price, Roger Mallaburn. Front row: Vaughan Dillon, Mike Cuerden, Harris McCrea.
Only 16 Levante members played at Bonalba and those who opted out missed a better ball pairs competition played in ideal conditions on a course which is now in excellent shape, especially after the downpour three days previously.
After concentrated efforts in the last few months to repair the damage to the course’s reputation as a popular venue, Bonalba management must be delighted with the way the fairways, and especially the greens,...Read More >> |
