24 January 2012 La Galiana
We started the New Year with an almost tropical day at La Galiana on 24 January. Most played in shirt sleeves and some were tempted to wear shorts but saw sense in the end. We had a small but select turn out with numbers lower than normal due to some attractive membership offers now being available at other courses. The Premier Twenty contest started well for Javea with an excellent win over Quesada. Javea won two matches and lost two at home, but then clinched the overall victory by winning three at Quesada. Javea are now in the semi final in February against Benitachell.

Levante prepared for their Costa Blanca League Division 1 match against CL Golf at Villaitana by matching up the pairings who will compete in today’s better-ball, matchplay event. And from the scores returned by team members, the message to their opponents is clear: thank goodness the match is today and not last Friday! The only factor Levante don’t want to change is the weather, which was perfect.

All the Javea Green teams were in action this week, with rather mixed results.
Onyx was at home against El Cid Scimitars and enjoyed a 10-0 victory, with overall shots 96-49 in our favour. The winning rinks were:

Olive Lutz, Dave Wood, Derick Lutz 24-17
Christine Reeves Clive Corbin, Dennis Reeves 21-11
Ritva McAuliffe, Brian Collins, Ken Ayling 31-8
The two Onyx Friendly teams were also victorious.
