Alcalá del Júcar celebrates its 650th birthday party with a Medieval Market

News Spain - April 2014

contorsionista Alcalá del Jucar was given official recognition as an independent village on 18 April 1364.  Now, 650 years later, the village holds a Medieval Market on 17 to 20 April, with medieval minstrels, a juggler walking on stilts, a wooden merry-go-round, all sorts of medieval games and above all, stalls with the real craft work still to be found in this typical Amata market.  The village itself - a jewel in an otherwise drab landscape - is also well worth a visit

Arts and crafts in the Lumberjack Festival in Cofrentes

News Spain - April 2014

lmparas de_alambreOn 3 May Cofrentes celebrates its La Maderada festival for the seventh time. That same weekend Amata will organise, for the second year running, an Arts and Crafts market. Perhaps Cofrentes is not just around the corner, but the combination of wandering round a pretty village, watching the Lumberjack Festival activities and visiting an original craft market makes for a good excuse to spend a weekend here.
